The HfMT in Hamburg offers not only a comprehensive education geared towards becoming a professional musician, but also the freedom and inspiration to develop your own musical identity. The goal of the program is to prepare you with the necessary skills and versatility required to be a successful professional musician. These skills are: confidence in playing and understanding various styles, openness and inspiration for music from other cultures, mastering the software and hardware knowledge for music production and live performance, management and marketing, and the know how needed to utilize this knowledge in today’s popular music scene. In order to completely understand the music production process, each student follows the creation of a musical work from composition and arranging to the final studio recording. The HfMT is closely connected with the NDR Big Band. Students have the opportunity to actively work on compositions and arrangements with the Big Band. Several of the NDR musicians are professors in the HfMT. All of the professors in the jazz department are established international artists, and can be a mentor in the technical aspects of their instrument, as well as a role model for the activities in the jazz scene. |
